Current Churches & Ministries

BIMI missionaries have served in Kenya since 1989 and have started over thirty churches, three Bible institutes, an orphanage, nursery school, and two feeding centers located in chronic famine areas.  These ministries are concentrated in two locations:  one in the north-central highlands and the other in the southwestern region near Lake Victoria.

Our missionaries there have emphasized the discipleship and training of men who will plant the future churches in Kenya.  Already many of these leaders have begun Bible studies, which later formed into new churches in their home villages.  The miracle of a changed life through salvation in Jesus Christ never ceases to be the ultimate joy and cause of rejoicing for the missionaries and national leaders who labor there.

Unreached areas/peoples

Over three-fourths of the nearly 40 million people in Kenya say they are Christian; however, that figure is relative to the fact that most will claim Christianity as opposed to Islam.  Most missionary activity has been focused in the larger cities, where the masses can be reached, yet there are many people groups scattered all over the country in less densely populated areas that are in desperate need of the Gospel.  Statistics show that less that 1/3 of the over 100 people groups in the country have any established church, and 1/3 of those are either Catholic or Anglican.

Special projects/opportunities

While there has been much work in this country in the past, new missionaries are needed to reach out into the more remote areas.  In the larger towns, committed missionaries are needed who will work alongside mature, trained nationals and help them reach their potential to take the Gospel to the regions beyond.

There is the opportunity for short-term or long-term help with the orphanage, children’s ministries, as well as teaching in the Bible Institute.

Supplies and funds are constantly needed for the orphanage and feeding centers so that they may expand and provide for more children in destitute situations.
