Zimbabwe

Current Churches & Ministries

BIMI missionaries Jeff and Cindy Porter and their children have been in Zimbabwe since October of 2009. They are veteran missionaries from South Africa who, having left their ministries there in the hands of trained nationals, have felt God'sleading to cross the border into Zimbabwe and begin a work for God in this vast field.  They have had many opportunities to preach and teach and have found the Zimbabweans very receptive to the Gospel.

Unreached areas/peoples

With the highest unemployment rate in the world (95% of the population is without a job.), the collapse of the nation's economy, widespread poverty, and an estimated HIV infection rate of 20%, the Zimbabweans are looking for hope and ready to receive answers to their life¹s problems which only come through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

The whole country is a wide-open field, ripened and ready for a spiritual harvest.

Special projects/opportunities

The largest Christian churches in Zimbabwe are Anglican, Roman Catholic, Seventh-day Adventist, and Methodist. As in other African countries, Christianity is often mixed with traditional beliefs and ancestral worship. The total population is approximately 12 million.  The life expectancy for men is 37 years of age and 34 years of age for women.  These statistics give cause to increase our prayers that God would call laborers into this country and speed them on their way.
